How Can I Change My HDFC Home Loan Email Address?

by
Last updated on 3 min read

Quick Fix Summary:
Fire up HDFC NetBanking (version 4.2 or later), hit Update Contact Details > Update Email ID, punch in the OTP that lands on your registered mobile, and confirm. Takes under two minutes.

What's the deal here?

Your registered email on file controls OTPs, statements, and alerts, so HDFC makes you prove it’s really you via the mobile number they already have.

As of 2026, HDFC won’t even look at change requests that come from email addresses they don’t recognize. (They’re serious about security.)

How do I actually change it?

Log in to HDFC NetBanking, open the Update Contact Details menu, pick “Update Email ID,” enter the OTP that arrives on your registered mobile, and hit Submit.
  1. Open your browser and go straight to https://netbanking.hdfcbank.com. Type in your Customer ID and IPIN (password).
Pro move: Install the HDFC NetBanking app (version 3.12+) and let it auto-fill the OTP for you.
  2. From the top menu, choose Requests, then Update Contact Details.
  3. Under Personal Details, click the little pencil icon next to your Email Address.
  4. Type the 6-digit OTP that pops up on your registered mobile (you’ll see it formatted like +91 XXXXX XXXXX).
  5. Double-check the new address, click Submit, and wait for the instant SMS confirmation. Your file updates within half an hour.

That didn’t work—now what?

If NetBanking throws a wrench in the works, you’ve got three backups: same-day branch visit, the online “Write to Us” portal, or a good old-fashioned courier.
  • Same-day branch fix: Grab a government-issued photo ID and a proof of address, walk into any branch, and the staff can push the update for you in NetBanking.
  • Online portal (one business day): Head to https://www.hdfc.com/write-to-us, pick Home Loans, upload a scanned copy of your ID and a fresh proof of the new email, and HDFC verifies before updating.
  • Snail-mail option: Download Form 1388 from https://www.hdfc.com/forms, fill it out, and mail it—along with a self-attested copy of your ID—to HDFC Central Processing Cell, Mumbai 400018.

How can I keep this from happening again?

Run a quick annual check on your registered mobile number and set NetBanking alerts so you’ll know the instant someone tries to tweak your contact details.
ActionHow often?
Verify your registered mobile once a yearAnnually
Turn on NetBanking alerts for any contact changeRight now
Upload fresh ID copies to your e-locker after any major ID updateWhenever you renew your passport or Aadhaar, for example

Quick security tip: Bookmark the NetBanking login page—it keeps you off phishing links. Always glance at the URL bar; it should start with https://netbanking.hdfcbank.com and nothing else.
